Overview:

The Smaktu are by far the best biotechnologists in the galaxy.  They grow their spaseships as autonomous organisms; neural tissues act as computing devices, ganglia and nerves as external sensors, and digestive processes as propulsion.

While they have declared themselves “willing slaves” of the Fslak-Tuembao, protecting the brainships with their lives in return for strategic guidance and support, the truth is they enjoy a close partnership – they are of the few alien species who live under similar environmental conditions, and can truly work side-by-side as a result.
